The Treehouse of Death
This page chronicles my efforts to build a treehouse for the botlets.
Step 1: The Supports
These were 2×12 beams fastened to the tree with giant lag bolts.
Step 2: The Platform

The platform is 2×4 deck boards laid on a 2×6 support frame.
As you can see, safety was not a concern during construction.
Step 3: The Walls Go Up

These walls are 2×4 stud walls with t111 siding.
Step 4: The Roof
The roof rafters for what will be an A-frame roofline.
For material, we settle on a corrugated tar-paper-like product that came in 4×8 sheets. We cut out around the trees.
The Finished Product
Finally, we have the finished product:
As you can see, there are two ways up: The rope ladder to the right (comes up through a trap door) and the wooden ladder on the left.
Sadly, shortly after this photo, this little girl of mine fell down the rope ladder’s trapdoor in the floor. Twas then I realized my folly, and hastily replaced the trapdoor’s floor pieces around the rope ladder.
Unusable though it may be, the rope ladder stays in place.

I’m sorry, but that is simply the sweetest, most magical treehouse I’ve ever seen… you are such a great dad, and I actually wish I had a treehouse like that now. Where do they make others like you, RD?
I want one too!! I think you may have found your second calling.
